MADISON, Wis. - The Alliant Energy Center is set to be renovated under a new plan that will be moving forward.
A committee made up of city, county and tourism leaders voted earlier this week to take the project to the next phase of planning.
Members of the committee say the redevelopment plan will attract more visitors and bring an economic boost to the City of Madison.
The plan calls for an upgrade of the Coliseum and building restaurants and a hotel along John Nolen Drive.
The project will be financed through public and private sector investments.
Two Dane County committees will review the master plan further.
The planning process for the project is set to begin in early 2018.
