MONROE, Wis. - According to the Green County Sheriff's Office, in the past month there have been four citations issued for drivers traveling at 90 mph or above.
In a Facebook post, the Sheriff's Office noted that speeds on roads and highways in the area "have increased dramatically."
The post describes a vehicle stop that occurred Thursday morning in which an officer stopped a vehicle that was going 93 mph in an area with a 55 mph speed limit. According to the post, the driver received a $358 fine and six demerit points.
The post said that, if the driver is convicted, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will suspend their license for 15 days and charge an extra reinstatement fee.
The Sheriff's Office requested that drivers maintain safe speeds and follow speed limits.
