MADISON, Wis. - A local hospital is sending supplies down to hurricane victims as one of its employees heads to another hard-hit area.
SSM Health employee Scott Longley spearheaded the effort to collect supplies for victims in the greater Florida area after he decided to partner with Samaritan Purse and head to Houston to help with relief efforts there. His coworkers helped fill five pallets with boxes packed with clothes, hygiene items and more.
“I feel it’s my responsibility to live the mission [at SSM Health], to help those in need and call on employees to do the same,” he said. “This is just so encouraging to work with an organization that's so willing to give back to people, not only here in the community but throughout the nation.”
Longley is working with the Red Cross to get the supplies delivered to Florida this week. He will head to Texas on Saturday.
