SAUK CITY, Wis. - A man accused of sexually assaulting residents in a Sauk City nursing home is a registered sex offender and was resident of the facility, police said.

Chief Jerry Strunz said his department is still investigating the sexual assaults that were reported May 9 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City.

Galen J. Malisch, 69, is accused of sexually assaulting two victims in the home, including a 95-year-old woman. He's also listed as a registered sex offender in Wisconsin after being convicted of charges in 1989 for second-degree sexual assault and incest with a child.

Strunz says Malisch had been a resident of Maplewood Nursing Home since April 2017. He said that his department is also investigating possible non-compliance with the conditions of being a registered sex offender, as he did not notify the Wisconsin Department of Corrections about his current address.

Malisch's address as of May 16 is listed as the Sauk County Jail, according to the state's sex offender registry.

FOX 47 contacted officials at Maplewood for comment and did not immediately receive a response.
