Marshfield man arrested for throwing away 8 newborn puppies in trash bag

MARSHFIELD, Wis. - Police found eight newborn puppies still alive inside of a garbage bag last month, according to a news release from the Marshfield Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Fourth Street on Feb. 28 for a complaint about the sound of kittens coming from a trash can. When police arrived, they found a garbage bag in the trash can filled with eight newborn puppies.

Police arrested 56-year-old Robert M. Wild on suspicion of mistreatment of animals and abandonment of animals. Wild was the owner of the home where the puppies were found.


Authorities took the puppies to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter. According to the release, the puppies are doing well and will be up for adoption in the coming months.
