MADISON, Wis. - Access to Fish Lake and Crystal Lake just got easier. Dane County Executive Joe Parisi opened a new boat landing at Lussier County Park on Wednesday.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources also awarded the county's water resources department $50,000 to continue planning a boat launch on Crystal Lake.
The new boat landing will include 13 trailer stalls and eight car stalls, as well as parking and paths compliant with the American Disabilities Act. The project will cost $620,000, $420,000 of which will come from Dane County.
“I am proud of this new boat launch that will allow more people to enjoy the wonderful beauty of Fish Lake,” Parisi said in a Wednesday statement. “I want to thank the Fishing Expo for their continued partnership that will allow more people to access our wonderful lakes.”
The award received by the county, the Fisheries Management External Partner Award, recognizes organizations that forward the mission of the DNR's programs to improve access to fisheries.
“The Dane County Land and Water Resources Department does an amazing job every day to protect our resources for our kids and grandkids to enjoy,” Parisi said.
