FITCHBURG, Wis. - There could be traffic delays in Fitchburg this weekend due to continued construction on the Verona Road project, according to a news release from the Department of Transportation.
Starting Friday, all Verona Road traffic between County PD/McKee Road and Raymond Road in Fitchburg will shift to the east side of the highway, DOT officials said.
Drivers headed northbound Verona Road will travel on the newly completed interchange ramps while southbound traffic uses the current northbound lanes.
The traffic switch will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and continue until Sunday afternoon. Turn lanes at the County PD, Williamsburg Way and Raymond Road intersections will be restricted at various times throughout the weekend.
Officials also anticipate traffic delays Monday morning as drivers adjust to the new Verona Road traffic configurations. Commuters are advised to provide additional time to travel through the work zones, where the speed limits will be reduced to 40 mph.
