Police: Man asked girl to get into car, help him find 'lost puppy'

ELKHORN, Wis. - Elkhorn police are trying to identify the man who asked a little girl to get into his car and help him find his "lost puppy."

Officers said the incident happened Friday around 7 p.m. as two children played in the 1500 block of South Meadow Lane.

A 7-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy were outside when a red car pulled up, according to the Elkhorn Police Department. The male driver asked the girl to help him find his lost puppy. When the girl refused, the driver took off, police said.

No further description of the driver is available.

The Elkhorn Area High School posted about the incident on its Facebook page asking parents to have conversations with students about personal safety.

Elkhorn Area School District employees also plan to review safety procedures with students in the classroom, according to District Administrator Jason Tadlock
