MADISON, Wis. - Madison fire is investigating an attic fire that caused 32 people to evacuate from their apartments Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire just after 1 a.m. in the ceiling of two apartment units on the 2000 block Carling Drive.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but two of the units sustained heavy damage, while four more suffered lighter damage. The fire damaged the building's electrical system, so although nobody was injured in the blaze, all residents were displaced due to safety concerns. The Red Cross is assisting residents in temporary relocation efforts.
