MADISON, Wis. — Residents at Oak Park Place on Madison’s east side got their 15 minutes of fame after a Facebook post went viral of them sharing their love advice for Valentine’s Day.
Reggie Regenold and his partner Don Vangor have been together for 27 years.
Vangor has lived at Oak Park Place for the past two years and suffers from memory loss. Regenold visits him every day, sometimes twice a day.
When asked what his love advice is to a lasting, successful relationship, Regenold said, “Never speak too quickly. Because more damage can be done in three seconds than you can take away in a lifetime.”
Regenold also said Vangor is “still the same loving man in my heart that he was back in ’94 when we met.”
Another couple, Rita and Allan, have been married for 48 years.
Rita was a patient in the hospital and Allen was the hospital chaplain.
“When I first saw her, I thought she was the vision of loveliness. I looked at her, she looked at me. I knew life would never be the same,” Allan said.
Rita’s Valentine’s Day advice was this:
“Be kind and loving to each other always. See the good in that person.”
“Never go to bed angry because life is too short and you never know if you’re going to wake up in the morning.”
