Training at Volk Field means increased flight activity, possible supersonic speeds

CAMP DOUGLAS, Wis. - There will be increased daytime flight activity involving supersonic speeds over 23 Wisconsin counties next two weeks, according to a release.

Volk Field will be conducting its annual Northern Lightning exercise Aug. 13-24, officials said.

There will be increased flying activity between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., including the potential for aircraft to travel at supersonic speeds above 30,000 feet in accordance with FAA and military policies, according to the release.
