LITTLE ROCK (KATV) – An Arkansas man purchased three $1 lottery tickets and won a $420,000 prize, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery announced Thursday.

Kenneth Launius of Camden purchased the winning Quick Pick NSJ ticket at Sparky Food Mart at 504 W. Main St. in Sparkman, the lottery said in a news release. The winning numbers for the Oct. 16 drawing were 9, 17, 20, 33 and 39.

“This can’t be real,” Launius said, recalling his first thought when he realized he'd won. “I couldn’t wrap my head around it, so I asked one of my daughters to double-check the numbers."

Launius' daughter compared the winning numbers to her father's ticket and started to cry, according to the release. Those tears signaled he had, in fact, won.

“My family began crying and hugging each other,” Launius said in the release. “I have two other daughters, and we’ve been praying for financial relief. I’m always working on the road, but I want to be home more to spend quality time with my family.”

Launius, a truck driver, said he plans to use his winnings to pay off debt and buy a swimming pool.

“This is my chance to start a new life,” he said.
