Law enforcement from across Dane County - Middleton to Cottage Grove - will be keeping a couple extra eyes on drivers on the beltline this summer.

It's part of what's called the Drive Smart Campaign.

The Dane County Sheriff's Department recieved a $50,000 grant from the Department of Transportation which will be used to add more officers onto the beltline.

Rather than not having it- because they are concentrated on other efforts, they can dedicate specific efforts to traffic enforcement, says Sheriff David Mahoney.

Dane County already has a six person traffic team.

The smart drive program kicks off this Saturday and runs through September.
