Record high fuel prices are affecting everything, even local summer festivals. In Stoughton, the carnival rides were shut down for one day.

Organizers at the Stoughton Fair delayed the opening of the midway by one day this week from July 1st to July 2nd, to cut back on operating costs. They also raised the wristband prices from 20 to 23 dollars.

They say the cost increase is necessary to keep the fair profitable.

Our transportation--getting from point A to point B--has doubled in the last year, said Greg Striowski, North American Midway Entertainment Manager. Then when we're on location, everything's powered by diesel.

People with North American Midway Entertainment say they've been working with local fairs to determine if and when it's necessary to shorten the fairs.

Even though prices have gone up at the Stoughton Fair, admission and parking are still free.

It runs through July 6th.
