MADISON (WMSN) -- If it's a constant challenge to stay on task at work, keep up with bills or even relationships, you may be one of 10 million adults who has ADHD.

Doctor Ari Tuckman says this form of ADHD can often be misdiagnosed, because health professionals simply don't know enough about it.

Speaking at Edgewood College Monday, Doctor Tuckman says many times the disorder is missed in adults because they don't have the same symptoms as kids.

"There are a lot of people with the inattentive type so if you look for hyperactivity you're gunna miss most adults with ADHD," said Dr. Ari Tuckman, Psychologist.

Mark Gehl of Madison was diagnosed with ADHD at 7-years-old.

He says the psychologist gave him hope, because living with the disorder can be hard

"Things so natural to you throw others off balance so we could be on the way to the movies and I could say lets stop and get something to eat," said Mark Gehl, who says he lives with ADHD.

The doctor says many adults shy away from talking about this, because they do not want to be stigmatized.

He says anyone thinks they have it, they should contact their doctor.
