Madison- The Sun Prairie softball team overcame a great outing from La Follette’s Nicole Newman to earn a 4-2 win over the Lancers.  Newman struck out 13 Sun Prairie batters, but didn’t get much fielding help, and the Cardinals took full advantage.

Cards’ righty Kristen Hoppman only gave up 3 hits and fanned 8 Lancers to help Sun Prairie (14-3) take a one game lead over La Follette (13-4) in the Big Eight Conference standings.
