MADISON, Wis. - A fingerprint connected a Madison teen to the scene of a south Madison burglary, police said.
The Madison Police Department said investigators lifted a fingerprint from the window of a home on the 500 block of Spruce Street.
A 64-year-old man and his wife were in bed on Aug. 17 when someone attempted to break in at about 6 a.m., according to the report.
Police said the fingerprint matched 19-year-old Jermaine E. Peeples.
Peeples was previously arrested on charges connected to a Jefferson Street home burglary on Aug. 4. In that case, a laptop and van keys were stolen, police said. The van was later involved in a hit-and-run crash.
Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said Peeples was also linked to a Brookwood Road home burglary on June 17. Detectives said Peeples pawned several iPhones at stores in East and West Towne malls during May and June.
Peeples was arrested on suspicion of attempting to commit burglary. He was already in Dane County Jail at the time of the arrest connected to the Spruce Street burglary, DeSpain said. Peeples had been arrested Aug. 20 in connection with another Madison burglary.
