RACINE, Wis. - Consumer products giant SC Johnson says it will cut 100 to 200 jobs in southeastern Wisconsin as it restructures and reduces its global workforce.
The Journal Times of Racine reported the company employs about 3,500 people in the Racine area, where it is based.
SC Johnson Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson announced the changes and layoffs Thursday at a meeting with employees. Company spokeswoman Jam Stewart says it's not clear yet how many jobs will be eliminated worldwide. The layoffs will take place during the fiscal year that starts July 1.
SC Johnson spokeswoman Kelly Semrau says the changes are meant to make the company more competitive with the other leaders in its field: Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Clorox and Reckitt Benckiser.
