MADISON, Wis. -A series of storms in southern Wisconsin prompted severe weather warnings Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service earlier issued a tornado warning for west central Rock County and eastern Green County that lasted until 3:15 p.m.

News 3 meteorologist Bob Lesh said more showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday afternoon, some of which could be severe, along a line stretching from roughly Eau Claire to Beloit.

This is an area where there is a bit more lift in the atmosphere, allowing these storms to grow quickly and stay near or above severe limits. They will move very slowly as well, so along with the threat of strong winds and hail, heavy rainfall is possible.

By this evening, the best conditions will have moved to the east and things will begin to wind down.
