MADISON, Wis. — It’s been a good week for Badger football.
Three days after topping Wake Forest in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, the Badgers found out two of their best players will be returning to the gridiron in 2021.
Star linebacker Jack Sanborn announced via Twitter on Saturday morning that he will be returning to Wisconsin for his senior year in 2021.
After watching and learning from Chris Orr and Zack Baun as a sophomore, he passed his big game experience and knowledge of Jim Leonhard’s defensive scheme on to the younger linebackers during his junior season.
The Illinois native has appeared in 25 career games (14 starts at inside linebacker) and has 87 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Later Saturday morning, the Badgers’ top target for quarterback Graham Mertz announced he too will be returning to Paul Chryst’s team in 2021. Jake Ferguson led the Badgers in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches in 2020.
All players in 2020 have the choice to return for an extra year of eligibility due to the pandemic.
