Badgers not worried about #8 seed

Madison- Wisconsin men's basketball coach Greg Gard didn't mince words when he addressed the Badgers #8 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

"Playing in March is a privilege. It's not a right," Gard said at Monday's news conference. "It's not something that automatically happens. You have to work your way there. Once you get there you understand it is what it is, and you've got to get ready to play."

The Badgers were seeded lower than 5th seed Minnesota - who they beat twice, and they probably expected a better draw than a possible second round match-up with #1 overall seed Villanova. But Gard said there are a lot of teams on Spring Break right now, and only the best of the best are still playing.

"Any opponent doesn't care what your feelings are about where you were seeded or where you felt you should be seeded. They're all good teams. Whether you're an 8, a 9, a 7, a 3... get ready and go play."

Wisconsin plays Virginia Tech in the first round of the East Regional in Buffalo, NY. Tip off is set for Thursday at approximately 8:40 P.M. central (the game before them tips at 6:10). It will air on CBS.
