DiVincenzo, Budenholzer discuss rookie's role

Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer has a saying: "If you don't play defense, you don't play."

St. Francis - Bucks first round pick Donte DiVincenzo's going from being "the man" on Villanova's national championship team, to finding a role on the Bucks roster. At Monday's introductory new conference, DiVincenzo said the Bucks could put him anywhere on the court and go from there. He's just excited to play with a young team that includes one of the best players in the league.

"Just to be able to play alongside somebody like Giannis [Antetokounmpo], and be able to play alongside people who want to win," He said. "You see the way they play the game, their mentality, how they play throughout the game. And I just want to be a part of that."

Head coach Mike Budenholzer says "If you don't play defense, you don't play," so that part of Donte's job description is very clear. The Bucks new coach thinks his newest player will earn whatever role he gets.

"Every player's journey's a little bit different. Some guys play immediately and have more of a role. Some of them take time and figure it out," Budenholzer said. "There will be a lot of time and thought that goes into his development, his growth. I think he has a long term future with us. He brings a lot to the table that we really value."
