Family Night success for Packers

The Packers open the preseason Thursday night when they host the Eagles.

Green Bay- The Green Bay Packers held their annual Family Night practice on Saturday night, packing 63,000 fans into the stadium in spite of a delay to the start of practice because of a thunderstorm.

Head coach Mike McCarthy sees the practice in part as especially important for rookies or other newcomers to the team getting their first experience playing at Lambeau Field before Thursday's first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rookie defensive back Kevin King was impressed with his first Lambeau Field dress rehersal. "Going through the tunnel I see everybody in front of me with that green and gold on, kinda thinking 'Man, this is real,'" King said Saturday night. "Definitely a surreal feeling. It's great. It's my dream. It's a dream come true."
