Hornibrook leaves Wisconsin football program

Hornibrook was 26-6 as a starter at Wisconsin.

Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook is leaving the program and has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

“Alex informed us of his decision to leave the team earlier today,” head coach Paul Chryst said. “He contributed to a lot of our recent success and we want to thank him for all he did for our program. We wish him the best of luck.”

Hornibrook will have one season of eligibility remaining. This season, the West Chester, PA native was slowed by the effects of a concussion he suffered against Illinois. He missed three games during the regular season, and he didn't play in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Hornibrook was 6-3 in nine starts this season, and he finishes his Wisconsin career with a record of 26-6. His .813 winning percentage is the best of any quarterback in program history. He started nine games as a junior last season, throwing for 1,532 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He's tied for third all-time at Wisconsin in touchdown passes (47), fourth in completion percentage (60.5%) and fifth in passing yards (5,438).
