Green Bay - Packers and Lions doesn't mean anything with regard to the playoff race, but don't tell Green Bay head Mike McCarthy that they're playing for nothing. And don't ask him if they'll treat Sunday like a preseason game. Week 17 gives teams the chance to get some younger players game experience that they didn't get during the regular season, but it's not the same as shuffling the lineups during preseason.
"I'm focused on winning the game. Preseason's long gone for me. I have zero interest in trying to get out there, throw a guy a bone and get him a couple reps because it's the end of the year," McCarthy at media day. "That does nothing for me. That's not the way you coach a team. I'm more focused on hopefully having 46 healthy guys so we can build our plan."
Green Bay (7-8) and Detroit (8-7) will kick off Sunday at noon from Ford Field. The Lions won the previous meeting 30-17 on November 6th at Lambeau Field.
