Packers turn to Pettine as defensive coordinator

The Packers have reportedly offered their defensive coordinator job to former Browns head coach Mike Pettine.

Green Bay - The Packers are preparing to hire former Browns head coach Mike Pettine to take over as defensive coordinator, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Pettine coached the Browns in 2014 &'15, but he was fired after going 10-22.

Considered one of the best defensive coaches in the league, Pettine also served as d-coordinator for the the Jets (2009-'12) and Bills (2013).

Pettine inherits a defense that gave up 30 passing touchdowns (29th in the NFL) and ranked 22nd in total yards per game. The Packers allowed 24 points per game, which ranked 26th in the league.
