Rafael: ready for the finale

Rafael said a few of his family members are making the 10-hour flight from Sao Paulo to watch the Badgers season opener.

Madison- Wisconsin senior kicker Rafael Gaglianone was on pace to have a breakout season last year, but his campaign ended after three games. Back surgery sidelined Gaglianone after he made 7 of 8 field goals and all 10 of his extra points.

The Brazilian-born right-footer is looking forward to his Badger finale now that he's fully healthy.

"As college students playing football, the season- there's so much that goes into it. A lot of the stuff that's offseason people don't really notice," Gaglianone said. "But all the hard work that you put into a season, it's a lot to go out there and only play three games. So, definitely really excited to be back."

Rafael said a few family members are making the 10-hour flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil to see the Badgers' opener against Utah State on September 1st. Kickoff is set for 8 P.M. on ESPN.
