Sun Prairie falls to powerhouse Kimberly

Kimberly beat Sun Prairie 27-7 to win its fifth straight state title and 70th consecutive game.

Madison - Another year, another state championship for Kimberly. The Papermakers scored 27 straight points to beat Sun Prairie 27-7.

Kimberly won its 70th consecutive game to earn a fifth straight WIAA Division 1 state title. The 70-game streak is the longest in the country.

Sun Prairie (13-1) opened the scoring with a first quarter touchdown pass from Jack Zander to Cooper Nelson, but the Cardinals offense couldn't find the end zone again.

D.J. Stewart carried the load for Kimberly (14-0), rushing for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Alec Rosner rushed for 90 yards, including a 50-yard TD run that gave Kimberly the lead for good.
