DUNN, Wis. — A crash involving four vehicles left one person dead and another seriously injured on Saturday night in the Town of Dunn.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred around 10:39 p.m. on US Highway 51, just north of Lake Kegonsa Rd. Officers and EMS from McFarland, Stoughton, and Middleton responded to the crash.

Officials say a 2021 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound in a southbound lane. A driver traveling in the southbound lane was able to swerve into a ditch to avoid the Camry, but a second driver traveling in the southbound lane in a 2021 Hyundai Elantra was struck head-on.

The Elantra rolled multiple times before ending up on its roof. A fourth vehicle was hit in the windshield by debris.

The driver of the Camry, a 39-year-old male, was airlifted to UW ER with serious injuries. The driver of the Elantra, a 47-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers and their passengers were uninjured.

The crash temporarily closed both lanes of the road, but they were opened back up at around 5:46 a.m. Sunday morning.
