MADISON, Wis. — More than 300 schools in Wisconsin have two or more cases of COVID-19, according to the latest active outbreak investigation data provided by the Department of Health Services.
In southern Wisconsin, hundreds of staff and students are in quarantine after testing positive or coming into close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, according to a review of district COVID-19 dashboards.
With most schools about two weeks into the 2021-2022 school year, active COVID-19 cases and quarantines are increasing. In Dane County, three school districts–MMSD, Stoughton, and Sun Prairie–currently have at least 50 or more staff and students quarantining after testing positive or being in close contact with a positive case (See below).
MMSD spokesperson Tim LeMonds said that while the district has 151 in quarantine after 45 active cases, infections seem to be picked up in the community, not in schools.
“Currently there is no evidence of transmission in our school buildings, and largely what you see in our schools is a representation of what is happening out in our community,” he noted in an email.
Check below to see if your school district is providing weekly data about COVID-19 cases and quarantines (we will update this list with additional schools as available*).

*Not all schools are providing COVID-19 case dashboards on their websites during this school year. Some districts provided a dashboard last year but do not have a current dashboard for the 2021-2022 school year.
Additionally, some districts are providing the total number of quarantines broken down by active cases and close contacts; others simply update positive case totals but do not list a total number of quarantines.
