Madison police investigate carjacking on city's west side

MADISON, Wis. — A woman’s vehicle was stolen Tuesday morning in Madison.

The Madison Police Department said the vehicle was stolen west of Maple Grove Drive near the 3700 block of Frosted Leaf Drive around 1:45 a.m.

According to police, a woman was getting out of her vehicle when someone in a stolen gray Subaru Impreza pulled up next to her.

The robber pointed a handgun at her and told her to exit her vehicle.

The robber then got into the victim’s vehicle and drove away.

Police later saw the victim’s vehicle and the stolen Impreza speeding in tandem on McKee Road.

After a short chase, officers stopped following the vehicle near Verona Road and the Beltline.

The Impreza was later spotted in several other areas of the city, but all attempts to pull the driver over were unsuccessful.

The victim’s vehicle was last seen in Janesville by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
