Registration for annual Goodman Center Thanksgiving basket drive begins next week

MADISON, Wis. — The Goodman Community Center is opening registration for its annual Thanksgiving basket drive next week.

This year’s registration period will run from Monday, October 18 through Friday, October 29.

This will be the 33rd year the Goodman Community Center has helped people in the Madison area provide a full Thanksgiving meal for their home. This year, the organization is setting a goal to distribute 4,000 meals to local families, covering 25,000 Dane County residents.

The Goodman Community Center’s food pantry manager, Francesca Frisque, said they saw unprecedented demand for the meals last year, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Frisque says the Goodman Community Center is expecting this year to be the same, leading to the lofty goal.

Those who wish to volunteer with food sorting and distribution, make a financial donation to help the Goodman Community Center buy the supplies needed, or host a food drive can find more information on how to do so on their website and on their Thanksgiving basket drive FAQ page.

Those who wish to register for a basket can also do so at the website or call 608-204-8018 between 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays during the registration period.

Basket distribution will take place between Saturday, November 20 and Monday, November 22.
